How to use this phrase library

Every language here is organized into two topics: travel essentials (directions, transport, basic requests) and restaurant phrases (ordering, paying, dietary needs). These cover the situations that come up most often when you are somewhere new and need to communicate quickly, before you have time to build up a broader vocabulary. Each phrase includes an English translation, and for languages that do not use the Latin alphabet (Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Chinese) a romanized version so you can start pronouncing it right away.

Memorized phrases get you through a single exchange, but they fall apart the moment the other person answers with something you did not expect, which is what actually happens in a real conversation. That is the gap PalmSpeak is built to close: practice these exact phrases out loud with an AI conversation partner that responds in your target language, keeps the exchange going past the line you rehearsed, and gets you comfortable improvising rather than just reciting.

All seven phrase libraries are free to browse without an account, and each one links out to the audio button on every phrase so you can hear it said correctly before you try it yourself. If you only have five minutes before a trip, skim the travel essentials list for your destination language. If you have longer, work through both topics and then take what you learned into an actual conversation instead of leaving it as a list you read once and forgot.
